Pricing for Land-, Rock-, and Ocean-stored Carbon projects is designed to keep certification accessible for both small and large companies. The total cost depends on the size of the project, the ability for upfront payment and the selected payment structure. Oncra offers different pricing and payment options to lower barriers for participation and support wider adoption of carbon storing construction practices.

In both cases, projects can sell the Potential Carbon Removal Units (meaning: future carbon removal) through so-called pre-purchase agreements. These sales can start after successful pre-validation and registry entry.

There are two options:

Option 1: Direct Oncra fee Direct payment of the Oncra fee at a small standard fee and discount for €3,- per tonne. This is invoiced after successful pre-validation and registry entry.

Option 2: Oncra fee after sales This option includes a minor upfront payment for the pre-validation and registry entry. Additionally, Oncra charges a small fee / certificate after the sale of a certificate.

*Small non-commercial projects can request an exemption from the upfront fee

Important: Third-party Validation & Verification fees Validation and verification are carried out by an independent third-party Validation and Verification Body. These costs are not included in the Oncra fee and are invoiced separately by the selected third party. The final fee depends on the project type, project size, complexity, documentation quality and required site visits. The currently expected costs per project are €2000,- for the joint validation and verification. Projects are responsible for arranging and paying these costs directly, unless agreed otherwise.
